Who, Where, When???

Slavery was established by Louis XIV in 1689.
It was established in Quebec in 1689.
It took about 60 years for slavery to come to Nova Scotia.

Slavery in Canada began to decline in the early 19th century because the "Slave Sellers" were not making as much money in Canada as they were in the United States. So they stopped selling slaves here in Canada.

The Slaves were legally freed in British America on August 1, 1834. At that time 781, 000 slaves were freed. The British Government created a fund of 100 000 000 dollars to compisate the slave owners that set their slaves free and not a single pennie was paid to the people of Canada because no one sent in a claim.
